The European and Italian results regarding the sale of cars have not been positive for several months. At the same time, the sector is grappling with an identity crisis. While those who drive and plow the roads every day expect cars with cheaper prices, without paying too much attention to the fight against the increase in emissions (which remains in the background), car manufacturers still don’t know what will happen to their electric investments as petrol cars are still very popular. The market basically says that the car is not a mass ‘household appliance’, and with the increase in technological equipment it is the manufacturers who deal with premium and luxury cars who have more optimism.
When it comes to volumes, in fact, the situation is more difficult. For this reason, everyone is waiting for incentives, almost craving them. Politics will discuss it extensively these days. “The confrontation with the Ministry of Economy is still open. The hypothesis is that of a large fund worth one billion a year for at least three years. There is a problem accompanying the transition of the supply chain for the next ten years, the most difficult will be the years 2025-2030. We are working. It is a common battleDeputy Minister of Economic Development Gilberto Pichetto said at the Anfia webinar, according to the newspaper La Stampa. The final figure could fall between 700 and 800 million per year, according to the national edition of the Turin newspaper, therefore a little less than what was also said by the minister Giancarlo Giorgetti.
The wait is for a structural reform that many believe necessary to revive the car market in Italy, but it does not seem that the government wants to give space to interventions that are too long-term. No doubt a three-year incentive plan would already be a nice change from the latest ‘waves’ of government aid. There is still no mention of the division between electric, hybrid and used cars, but in this sense it can be understood that for the environmental objectives more importance will be given to cars with lower CO2 emissions.
