Cupra DarkRebel will it ever complete the transformation process from a simple concept car to a series production car? At the moment it remains only a dream. Word of Wayne Griffiths, CEO of the Seat and Cupra brands, thus confirming the company’s intention to proceed with the project but suggesting that to date it is not a priority. And the reason is easily explained: Cupra first wants to focus on certain profits and volumes.
Cupra DarkRebel? It remains a dream
Recall that Cupra unveiled the DarkRebel in the form of a physical prototype for the first time only last year, after having previously been shown in a digital version on the occasion of the debut of the Tavascan electric SUV. “It’s a car we’d love to make, but only when we can afford it – Griffiths clarified to Autocar – When you have limited resources, you have to establish your own priority. And, obviously, a big priority for me is the next generation of Cupra cars and electric cars.”
Question of priorities
In short, we will have to wait a little longer to see the production version of DarkRebel on the road. “DarkRebel would do a great job for Cupra in terms of image and positioning, but in terms of generating profitability and volume certainly not – added the CEO of Cupra – It could be a real game changer for our brand in the future, but at the moment it remains a dream“.
