The second phase of the Länsimetro from Matinkylä to Kivenlahti will open to traffic next year.
Espoonlahti the construction work of the new metro station in connection with the shopping center Lippulaiva has been completed, says the construction company SRV in its press release.
The subway station is part of Länsimetro’s extensive second-phase construction project.
The extension of the Länsimetro between Matinkylä and Kivenlahti will open to traffic next year. In addition to Espoonlahti and Kivenlahti, new stations are Finnoo, Kaitaa and Soukka.
The metro runs underground for the entire seven kilometer long distance.
Now the platform of the completed metro station is barely 30 meters deep. There is a bus terminal connected to it, which serves the subway feeder traffic in the greater Espoonlahti area.
The theme of the metro station was the atmosphere, colors, lights and materials of the swimming hall that has been located in the area since 1983, SRV says. The artwork of the Espoonlahti station is Hans Rosenström light and sound work Shadows on the surface of the water.
