Browsing terrorist websites and visiting them repeatedly..a crime punishable by imprisonment

Legal Adviser, Dr. Youssef Al-Sharif, warned against visiting and browsing websites that promote terrorism, as it is a crime under the Rumors and Cybercrime Law, in the event of repeated visits, and the penalty for this is five years in prison and a fine of up to one million dirhams.

In the episodes broadcast by “Emirates Today” on its platforms on social media, to shed light on the newly issued laws, the state’s efforts to combat terrorist groups and organizations and illegal bodies, as it works day and night through its security services, to address them not to spread their poisonous ideas among members of the community.

He pointed out that some websites attributed to such terrorist groups or groups facilitate communication with their leaders, leaders and members, with the aim of attracting new members, or promoting or favoring their ideas.

He explained that the aim of these acts is to spread their ideas that seek to destabilize security, warning of the danger of these groups’ websites and their impact on children, especially since some websites teach methods of manufacturing incendiary devices such as bombs, or other tools used in terrorist acts.

He stated that the Rumors and Cybercrime Law criminalizes the owners of these websites, whether they are those who establish them, those who manage them, or those who supervise them, or publish information through them or data. Millions of dirhams.

He pointed out that the second clause of the text of Article (21) stipulates that “the penalty shall be imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, and a fine of not less than 500 thousand dirhams and not more than one million dirhams, for anyone who downloads the content of any of the websites referred to in the first paragraph of this The article includes incitement to hatred.”
