British Undersecretary of Commerce Mordaunt Wants to Lead Efforts Against Russia as Prime Minister
British Undersecretary of Commerce Penny Mordaunt, who is one of the country’s prime ministerial candidates, has promised that if elected, she will lead Western efforts to confront Russia. She also spoke about how she received a Ukrainian refugee at her home, informs Telegraph.
“As prime minister, I will make sure that our Ukrainian friends eventually achieve freedom. Like thousands of other people in recent months, I hosted a man who fled Ukraine. Maintaining a firm and unshakable resolve is not only a political but also a personal principle for me,” the politician said.
Despite her position, she stressed that Britain does not want to confront the Russian Federation. In her opinion, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is only part of a larger “clash of values and ideals” in which liberal democracies must do everything possible to turn the tide and help Kyiv.
Earlier, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair spoke about the situation in the world and explained the global changes by the crisis in Ukraine. He also said that Western countries should increase military budgets and improve relations with developing countries.
