What was an open secret was confirmed this Wednesday: Atlético Nacional confirmed the return of midfielder Edwin Cardona, who in the first semester played with América de Cali.

Cardona, 31 years old, trained in the green club and already had two stages in the club: he debuted in 2009 and played until 2011, when he moved to Santa Fe. He returned in 2014 and stayed for a year, before leaving for Monterrey, from Mexico.
Cardona went through Santa Fe (2012), Junior (2013), Monterrey (2015-2017), Boca Juniors (2017-2018 and 2020-2021), Pachuca (2019), Xolos de Tijuana (2020) and Racing (2022- 2023), before returning last semester to Colombian soccer, for América de Cali.

Geraldine appears touring the streets of a popular neighborhood in Medellín on a bicycle and arrives at a micro-soccer field. There she starts chatting on her cell phone, while a boy asks her if it is true that Edwin is coming back.
The soccer player shows the phone to the boy and tells him: “Let him confirm it himself.” Cardona comes out there, already dressed in club clothes.
Cardona’s first words upon his return to Nacional
“Grateful to God, to the president, to the people who made the effort to bring me back to the club where I was born. It is a dream that I am going to fulfill again, my son and my family are going to be able to see me dressed in green , with the shirt of the team of which I am a fan,” said Cardona.
