It was revealed some time ago that Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto was hired by EA to form a new studio. Although no further information was given at the time, today it has been revealed that this team will be in charge of a narrative campaign focused on the universe of Battlefield.
Through a new statement, it was revealed that the Lehto studio will be named after Ridgeline Games, which already has more than 20 developers. Regarding his new project, although the details are few, it is very likely that the narrative campaign will be part of the next Battlefield. This was what Lehto commented on it:
“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect, and lead the charge in expanding the narrative and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series.”
For his part, Vince Zampella, founder of Respawn and director of the Battlefield franchise, added:
“We continue to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing in new talent and perspectives. With Marcus and his team at Ridgeline Games joining the world-class global team we already have, Battlefield is in the strongest position to succeed.”
Hopefully more info on Ridgeline Games’ first big project be disclosed as soon as possible. In related topics, these are the news of Battlefield 2042.
Editor’s note:
While multiplayer and microtransactions remain a core part of EA, it’s good to see the studio slowly returning to narrative single-player games. It seems that the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order wants to be replicated.
