MotoGP Valencia, Bagnaia 11th in testing
The last day of MotoGP school usually also serves as a catwalk for the world champion, especially if he graduated as such in the final race. Theoretically, therefore, all the cameras had to be for Francesco Bagnaiabut the day at the “Ricardo Tormo” just told a different story: today was the exception to the rule, because the focus was entirely on debut of Marc Marquez on that bike – the GP23 – that Bagnaia himself rode for his second world championship. “Pecco” in Valencia didn’t focus on the times (he finished 11th, seven tenths behind Maverick Viñales) but on some new features, including those on the engine, which the #1 judged positively.
Bagnaia’s words
“I watched the race again, I heard that the commentators sometimes let themselves go after Martin’s fall (laughs, ed.). What’s new on Ducati? I am satisfied, I’m happy that now I can rest and let go of some pressure. With the new engine and the new bike I felt good, it’s a good starting point. There is no doubt, there is a huge margin for growth. In my opinion there will be small steps to be taken, for example in delivery. But when things start out well…“, this is the comment of “Pecco” a Sky Sports MotoGP.
“The last two years have been complicated for the motorAnd. We are waiting for Malaysia, but I am satisfied with the consistency with new and used tyres. Braking and tuning? Today we improved a lot in corner entry, also compared to the race. So very good, but it’s early and Valencia isn’t a great testing ground. For the victory I received fantastic messages, it’s very nice. On the plane I will then start replying to everyone”.
Bastianini’s words
“The new engine is beautiful and pushes. Everything went according to plan. The day was positive and we improved some difficult aspects of this season. The new bike? We finally managed to work on the set-up. During the races there is the adrenaline and enthusiasm of Q2 and you don’t work too hard“, added Enea Bastianini. “I wanted to do some tests today, I felt better with the new bike. The engine runs strong, I’m missing a thread when entering the curve. I’m much more calm and confident for next year’s tests. This year has been very difficult for me, with the injuries it has been a really dark period. I want to rest, train and get back to 100% shape for the tests”.
