The official visit of the Kings of Spain to the Netherlands continues. On this third day, we were able to see Queen Letizia accompany Queen Máxima of the Netherlands on a visit to the facilities of the LAB6 association, created to respond to the concerns of young Dutch people. Later, within the framework of the Spanish Film Festival, they will enjoy a film and a discussion. “Their presence further enhances the importance of this celebration, and we express our sincere gratitude for their participation in this significant occasion. Both Queens will attend our unique event that highlights a decade of Spanish cinema in the Netherlands. 500 students will participate in the program, who will have the opportunity to see the film Campeonexdirected by Javier Fesser, interact with the attending filmmaker and our guests of honor,” the festival stated.
For the occasion, Letizia has “taken risks” with a combination of bright, spring colors that for a long time the chromatic commandments of the most conservative orders seemed to have been prohibited: pink and red. The red corresponded to a dress with lady sleeves with a cut inspired by the fifties, while the pink was for a cloth coat with a bell cut. Both pieces are by Carolina Herrera, one of the queen's trusted brands at official events and trips. The choice is again, in some way, a nod towards the Spanish textile and fashion industry, since, although Carolina Herrera is an originally New York brand, it currently belongs to the Spanish luxury holding company Puig.
Throughout the official visit, the Kings of Spain have shown their good personal and official harmony with William and Máxima of the Netherlands. As Isabel Ferrer narrates in her chronicle about the gala dinner held at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, the Dutch monarchs had some words of affection towards the Spanish Royal Family for helping them in a complicated moment in their lives. ”Last year, circumstances meant that [nuestra hija mayor, Amalia] resided in Madrid. From there he was able to continue his studies at the University of Amsterdam. All of this was possible thanks to the affectionate dedication of a large number of his and Their Majesties' fellow citizens.”
After dinner, in which the queen had to remain seated due to the ailment that afflicts her feet, she once again appeared standing and on heels, although sensible, as on the opening day.
A recycled look
As usual with her style choices, Letizia has recycled a coat and a dress that she had already worn in other official engagements. Carolina Herrera's dress is from several seasons ago and she wore it in 2021 to go on an official trip to Sweden.
The coat, also by Carolina Herrera, was worn in 2023 for a visit to Denmark. On that occasion, she combined it in a completely different way: a beige dress and shoes of the same tone with a noticeably higher height.
