Apple revealed its long-awaited artificial intelligence strategy, integrating tools based on this technology under the name “Apple Intelligence” across its suite of applications, including the voice assistant (Siri), and announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate the (ChatG) application. BT) in its devices.
Apple announced these artificial intelligence features at its Worldwide Developers Conference, along with the latest operating system for its devices.
Apple said that the iOS 18 operating system will make the iPhone home screen more customizable and include improved versions of its internal applications.
The new operating system adds a “Close an application” feature that will help people protect sensitive information. Users can choose to close certain applications and keep data more tightly within the operating system.
Apple also said it will group messages in its email program starting later this year, categorizing them into a primary file, another for transactions, a third for promotions, and other more specific files. These high-ranking rankings are similar to an old feature now found in Google’s rival Gmail app.
Apple also said that GBT Chat integration into its devices will be available later this year and other artificial intelligence features will follow, adding that the popular chatbot can be accessed for free and user information will not be recorded.
“We want you to be able to use these external models without having to move between different tools,” said CEO Craig Federighi as he introduced the ChatGPT integration.
The company also revealed an update to Siri with generative artificial intelligence technology to give the voice assistant the ability to control individual application features. This means that Siri can now delete emails and edit photos for iPhone users, updates that have proven difficult in the past as the assistant needs to understand the user’s precise intentions as well as how the app works.
Siri will also benefit from the expertise of ChatGPT and ask users for permission before inquiring about the OpenAI service.
Apple said it has built artificial intelligence with privacy “at its core” and that it will use a combination of on-device processing and cloud computing to power its AI features.
To achieve this, Apple plans to use its own chips to help power AI features on its devices. It also unveiled Private Cloud Compute, saying its AI can build on larger server-based models while protecting users’ privacy.
It also showcased (VisionOS2), the latest software for mixed reality glasses that uses machine learning to create natural images. It made it possible to control the device with a gesture, in addition to increasing the size of the virtual screen available in (Vision Pro).
A time when the company is facing strong competition in China and slowing growth in the United States.
The developer conference continues until Friday.
