For Tim Cookthe CEO of Applethe sector ofgenerative artificial intelligence it’s critical, so the company will continue to invest in it. The top executive of the Cupertino company touched on the topic during a meeting with investors in which he illustrated the company’s results.
On the occasion he explained that some of Apple’s recent technologies would not have been possible without the use of generative artificial intelligence, such as some features of iOS 17, specifically Personal Voice and Live Voicemail, which would not be possible without these new technologies. Then he confirmed that the company is working on its own generative artificial intelligence.
AI everywhere
Personal Voice is an accessibility feature designed to create an automated voice that sounds like the user. It was designed for those people who can no longer speak, for whatever reason. Live Voicemail, on the other hand, shows a live transcription of a voicemail as if it were recorded in real time. There are other iOS 7 apps that use AI, but these examples should suffice.
Unfortunately Cook did not provide details about what’s cooking at Apple regarding its generative AI, but reassured investors: “You can bet we’re investing in it, we’re investing in it quite a bit, but we’re going to do it responsibly.” He then stated that the fruits of these investments will be seen in the advancement of products that have these technologies within them.
