He added that according to Articles Three, Four, Five and Ten of Decree Law No. 23 of 2105 regarding the disposal of impounded vehicles in the Emirate of Dubai, there is a committee formed by a decision of the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police called the Impounded Vehicle Disposal Committee, among whose jurisdictions and powers is to inspect the impounded vehicles. Valuate it and verify that it is not required for any other party, then sell it at public auction if the conditions are met.
He pointed out that the cars sold at public auction are those that are seized by the police for reasons related to traffic or criminal accidents, and three months must pass from the closure of the traffic accident file or the issuance of the judicial ruling related to their seizure, after coordination with the Public Prosecution, that is, after the end of the period. Khamis explained that the owner of the vehicle whose sale procedures have begun at public auction has the right to recover it before completing the sale, after paying the expenses, fees and fines incurred at the time of its recovery.
He pointed out that the prices of the seized vehicles that are sold at public auction are deposited in a special account with the Department of Finance as a trust in the names of their owners for a period of three years, and then every owner of a vehicle that is seized must receive it directly as soon as it is released from the police or prosecution, and for the person who was By selling his car, he can recover its value from a department account before three years have passed, so that he will not be harmed by selling it or wasting its price.
