The successes continue to arrive for our Women’s MX League at the international level and this time, again, America is the team involved, as we remember that a few days ago it had been announced that the Eagles would play against the Bayer Leverkusen women’s team in July being the first team in the league to face a similar European.
Now, Craig Harrington’s team was invited to participate in the Women’s Cup, an international event that takes place in Louisville, United States and where several teams from around the world participate in a small tournament in search of the glory of consecrating themselves as the best club in the world.
This year, the teams that will be participating in said event will be OL Reign and Racing Louisville representing the NWSL, Tokyo Verdy Beleza from Japan, Club América from Liga MX Femenil and two more European teams to be confirmed, but what What we do know is that one of them will be from the Primera Iberdrola in Spain and the other from the Women’s Super League in England.
It is confirmed that America will be the team that will open the tournament that will start on Sunday, August 14, 2022 when they face a European team to be confirmed. In turn, the other European team will face Tokyo Verdy and then sneak into the semifinals where OL Reign and Racing Louisville will be waiting for a rival.
In the event that América manages to advance to the semifinals, their rival would be the Reign team, therefore, regardless of who the invited European team is, Harrington’s team will have very complicated matches in what will be a historic participation for the Eagles, It will be the first time that a Mexican club is part of said event.
