The actor Gérard Depardieu was arrested this Monday, April 29, when he went to a Paris police station where he had been summoned to be interrogated over the accusations of two women who claim to have suffered sexual assault by the French actor on two shoots, one in 2014 and another in 2021.
The information was revealed by the channel BRFMTVwhich stated that the two women claim to have been touched, something that Depardieu denies.
Depardieu, the subject of complaints from two women, was summoned on Monday by the Parisian judicial police (3rd PDJ) for questioning, a police source told AFP, confirming information from BFMTV. He was immediately arrested, said another source close to the investigation.
Depardieu, one of France's top movie stars, has been at the center of a growing number of sexual assault allegations in recent years that have tarnished his career.
A decorator, who worked on the team of the film “Les Volets Verts” by Jean Becker, accuses him of having sexually assaulted her in 2021.
The woman filed a complaint in February 2024 for sexual assault, sexual harassment and sexist insults. The events date back to September 2021 and supposedly took place in a private hotel in Paris.
According to told Mediapartthe actor would have made numerous harsh comments during filming, and then “grabbed her roughly” and “groped her waist, her stomach, even her breasts.”

The other complaint was filed by a former film assistant who accuses Gérard Depardieu of sexual assault in 2014.
According to Le Courrier de l'Ouest, This woman, who was 24 years old at the time of the events and who also wishes to remain anonymous, filed a complaint on January 9 denouncing “obscene comments” made by Gérard Depardieu during meetings at his private mansion in Paris.
She also accuses him of having sexually assaulted her and made sexual advances to her during the filming of the film “Le magicien et les Siamois” by Jean-Pierre Mocky in March 2014 in Maine and Loire.
The French film giant has also been accused since 2020 of rape and sexual assault of the young actress Charlotte Arnould.
The actress Hélène Darras had also filed a complaint against him for sexual assault during filming in 2007, but the Paris prosecutor's office closed it due to statute of limitations.
In Spain, Gérard Depardieu is also the subject of a complaint by the journalist and writer Ruth Baza, who accuses him of having raped her in 1995.
“I have never, ever abused a woman,” said the 75-year-old actor in an open letter published in October 2023 in Le Figaro, in reference to Charlotte Arnould's accusations.
These investigations come at a time when the world of cinema is experiencing an explosion, shaken by a succession of accusations of sexual violence.
After Gérard Depardieu, the filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon were the subject of an investigation for rape of a minor, following a complaint filed by the actress Judith Godrèche.
The latter has become one of the main figures in the fight against sexual violence in the seventh art in France, following in the wake of actresses Adèle Haenel and Charlotte Arnould.
