New rumors emerge about Contraband for Xbox.
Reportedly, Contraband from the Just Cause developer, Avalanche Studioswill focus on vehicle combat.
Announced in June 2021 and released by Xbox Game Studios for consoles and PC, Contraband is officially classified as “a smuggler’s paradise set in the fictional world of Bayan from the 1970s“Since then, new information on the open world title has been pretty sparse, but Windows Central’s Jez Corden said he knew a few things about the project while streaming World of Gaming last week.
“I got the design brief … It’s somehow based entirely on vehicle combat, [è un] very different kind of game“said the reporter.
“The fights revolve around disabling enemy vehicles, hitting tires and things like that, rather than doing huge bloodshed and all that sort of thing“, he added.
“They are looking for some sort of more tactical action game where killing is seen as a last resort“.
In a post on Xbox Wire, when Contraband was announced, the director Omar Shakir called it the “most ambitious and spectacular game to date” of study.
“We are taking a cue from everything we have learned in the 18 years we have been at the forefront of creating beautiful open worlds, filled with breathtaking views and incredible gameplay moments.“said Shakir.
“To fully realize our vision of Contraband, we have an amazing team at Avalanche Studios who are pushing the boundaries of the Apex Engine, the technology behind all of our games, including the Just Cause series.“.
“We built the engine to unlock the creativity of our developers and are excited to take full advantage of the unique capabilities of the Xbox Series X / S“.
In addition to the Just Cause series, Stockholm, Sweden-based Avalanche also developed 2015’s Mad Max and co-developed 2019’s Rage 2 with id Software.
