The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, assessed the possibility of introducing a lockdown in the country and commented on the need for quarantine for vaccinated Russians after contact with infected COVID-19. She spoke about this in an interview. RIA News.
Probability of lockdown in Russia
Popova assessed the likelihood of introducing a lockdown, quarantine or emergency measures to counter the coronavirus. She ruled out such a possibility and stated that the country does not plan to make such decisions.
Already today we are not talking about lockdown, we are not talking about quarantine, we are not talking about any emergency measures to counter
A similar opinion was previously expressed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He stressed that additional restrictions do not make sense.
The head of the department predicted that the number of patients with coronavirus in Russia would grow. However, the country has already developed schemes to combat the pandemic and means of diagnosing the infection. Popova added that in Russia there is a “very serious, strengthened” and new direction – a system of informing citizens by calling 122.
There is nothing ideal in this world, but this system, of course, is developing very effectively, and it is important for people, they have a single number where they can solve their problems
The need for self-isolation
Popova said that in the absence of symptoms, those vaccinated against coronavirus do not need to observe seven days of isolation after communicating with the patient.
There is no need! This is our rule! Such isolation is not indicated for vaccinated and recovered contacts if they do not have symptoms.
The head of the department noted that there are a significant number of studies showing that vaccinated and recovered patients have a lower concentration of the virus than other people. In addition, they have a short period of its release.
On January 25, Rospotrebnadzor reduced the self-isolation quarantine period from 14 to 7 days. The department explained that the innovation concerns Russians who have been in contact with a patient with COVID-19. The rule also applies to school students: if COVID-19 is detected in the class, then the isolation period will be seven days.
The most vulnerable categories of Russians
Earlier, Popova told which categories of Russians are most susceptible to infection with COVID-19. These are elderly people without immune protection and patients with chronic diseases without immune protection.

At the same time, Popova called its ability to infect children a characteristic feature of the omicron strain of coronavirus, which is now spreading in Russia. She recalled that the omicron is spreading rapidly. At the same time, children spend a lot of time in rooms where a high density of contacts is formed.
Omicron in vaccinated
Deputy director for clinical work of the G. N. Gabrichevsky Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Rospotrebnadzor Tatyana Ruzhentsova revealed the features of omicron infection in vaccinated people.
5-7days
vaccinated get sick with omicron
Ruzhentsova added that Russians who have not been vaccinated or have not had the disease, after completing treatment for coronavirus, remain weak, have anxiety and sleep disturbances, memory problems, deterioration in intelligence, “fog in the head”, cough and shortness of breath during physical exertion.
Symptoms and sites of infection
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Zaur Shugushev said that the symptoms of infection with the omicron strain resemble those of SARS. Patients are increasingly experiencing sore throats, body aches, and other symptoms similar to those of seasonal flu.

The main places of infection of the omicron strain are queues and public transport, said the head of the cell proliferation laboratory of the V.A. Engelhardt, virologist Petr Chumakov. Anatoly Altshtein, a virologist and professor at the Gamaleya Center, agreed with his opinion.
Altstein also predicted the timing of the peak incidence of coronavirus in Russia. He admitted that this will happen this week. The virologist suggested that if the Russians are vaccinated against COVID-19, then the pandemic may “not survive until the summer.”
