More than a metaverse
One of the biggest news in the tech world this year was the company’s official shift in focus from Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook Inc. has been renamed Meta and wants to be recognized globally as a “metaverse company”.
This has several implications in the dynamics of social networks, since in the future one imagines (and Zuckerberg also) social networks within the metaverse. That is, instead of sending a message on WhatsApp, you can go for a virtual coffee with a friend having a much more immersive experience.
The future of social networks, at least for Facebook, is focused on the metaverse, which has been defined as “the successor of the internet”, and even of the social interaction. To achieve this, Meta has made enormous efforts in developing technologies that support such a digital universe, such as augmented reality glasses or haptic gloves that they are preparing.
However, the metaverse is something that will still take several years to become a reality, and in the meantime, Facebook (the social network) continues working to take the platform to another level.
For example, the format of live broadcasts or live streaming It will continue to be a great bet for Facebook, especially in the Facebook Gaming and Facebook Watch spaces.

Facebook has to demonstrate that it is a safe place and a platform focused on the privacy and security of its users. This is most likely the reason for seeing a lot of effort to improve the experience.
And here it comes in Instagram to the discussion, one of the social networks most used by Colombians and around which a multimillion dollar business has been created for hundreds of content creators, also known as influencers.
The company led by Adam Mosseri will continue to focus on making Instagram a safer place for young people, particularly when it comes to the content that is shared on the platform.
They have the challenge of convincing their users that the algorithm it does not affect their mental health, or at least that they are working to change it.
Change of command
A week ago the departure of Jack dorsey from Twitter. Dorsey had been CEO of the company since 2015. Parag Agrawal, former Chief Technology Officer, took over from the previous Monday.
From Twitter an interesting change can be expected. First, because it will move away from the vision of its founders, which was in fact one of the motivations for Dorsey’s departure.
And, second, because Twitter has been making many technological efforts to improve the platform, such as donations to users, money transactions and spaces. All of this can be further established as a new line of business now that the head of Twitter is Agrawal.
