The Italian express courier leader announces the partnership with the pan-European company VGP
GLS Italy, leading express courier player in Italy, inaugurated today with VGP, a pan-European company in the Real Estate sector that builds and supplies high-quality logistic and semi-industrial parks, the new logistics center in Padua. The sorting center rises in a strategic position with excellent accessibility to the east ring road of the city, to the motorway A13 which connects Padua to Bologna and also to the Adriatic route, in the center of a dynamic area with a large availability of manpower.
The GLS Italy building, which extends over a total area of approximately 7,100 m2, in line with VGP standards, it was designed according to high levels of sustainability and obtained the “very good” rating according to the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). The structure, in fact, is equipped with both a photovoltaic system, that of a air conditioning system with heat pump, as well as presence detectors for switching on LED lamps, reducers for water supply and 2 double columns for electric car charging. All these measures have the aim of bringing benefits to companies and the local community, while not affecting the territory in terms of environmental impact.
Inside the new warehouse, located in the VGP Park Padova, thanks to the investment of over 2 million euros made by GLS Italy, installed a state-of-the-art machine for sorting packages that guarantees a very high level of automation by managing over 10,000 packages per hour with only 30Kw of absorption. In addition to the sorter investment, GLS Italy will incur an expense of approximately 7.2 million euros over 12 years for the use of the new sorting center.
