Latest moves on the drivers market
The big names are all settled in and now we are just waiting for the latest official announcements regarding the MotoGP riders’ market. Aprilia continues to change faces: Raul Fernandez will likely be the only confirmed rider between the official team and the satellite team. The team led by Davide Brivio, in fact, will announce a new rider today and all the signs point to Jack Millerwhose presence on the starting grid is important for Dorna for the Australian ‘quota’.
Making room for the former KTM rider – already complete with the dream team Acosta, Binder, Bastianini and Vinales – will be Miguel Oliveirawho will join his friend Fabio Quartararo at Yamaha, but within the Pramac structure which will still have identical bikes to the official team. The announcement regarding Miguel Oliveira is not imminent, but according to what was reported by Sky Sport MotoGP there will be no surprises with the Portuguese who has certainly received a higher salary from Yamaha than the one he received at Aprilia-Trackhouse.
Oliveira’s permanence in MotoGP – the only Portuguese – is also important for Dorna, which is truly getting the most out of the rider market. The only thing missing from the list is the growth of Yamaha and Hondawith the latter that unlike all the other manufacturers should not change much in its line-up also because Johann Zarco and Luca Marini have arrived by signing a two-year contract. Joan Mir should renew and probably the only novelty will be the arrival of Ai Ogura at the court of Lucio Cecchinello in place of Takaaki Nakagami. The second seat in Yamaha-Pramac will be highly contested and the top brass of the Iwata manufacturer are looking at Moto2, with Sergio Garcia and Alonso Lopez at the top of the list of contenders.
