Medvedev called the West’s attempts to gain a foothold in the Asia-Pacific region destructive
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the West’s attempts to gain a foothold in the Asia-Pacific region (APR) destructive. His words lead RIA News.
Medvedev noted that the actions of Western countries provoke a number of problems in the field of ensuring financial and economic security. He pointed to the pressure exerted on individual states and their financial systems, pursuing a line aimed at limiting overall development.
“All attempts to regulate, consolidate in Asia-Pacific A number of Western doctrines seem to us, Russia, to be destructive, since this hinders the development of trade and economic relations, as well as attempts to introduce all kinds of institutions into the ASEAN region in which extra-regional players participate,” Medvedev emphasized.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council added that the West is exerting sanctions pressure on a number of countries as a means of political neo-colonial influence.
On May 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States may turn to a number of Asia-Pacific countries with a request to deploy its intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles (INF) on their territory.
