Bloomberg: The US Army will receive the first hypersonic weapons no earlier than 2025
The US Army will receive the first hypersonic weapons no earlier than 2025, this estimate gives Bloomberg agency, citing the Pentagon’s annual weapons report.
It is noted that the United States is experiencing difficulties in putting hypersonic missiles into service due to difficulties with its integration.
The agency clarified that the first batch of eight new missiles will be in the army no earlier than the 2025 fiscal year, which begins on October 1. At the moment, hypersonic weapons have not passed the necessary tests.
“The Army has missed its goal of having its first battery of long-range hypersonic weapons, including missiles, by FY 2023 due to integration issues,” the post said.
The agency, citing the US military, wrote that the Pentagon is “on track to take necessary corrective actions” after past test failures. If new problems are discovered during test launches, missile deliveries and the commissioning of the first operational system may be delayed again.
In early June, the United States conducted a test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The test took place at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
