Mexico City.- The Mexican authorities activated this Monday the search for a well-known activist who is looking for her missing children, after her relatives lost communication with her when she was in the center of the country.
The National Search Commission and its counterparts from several states began work to locate activist Ceci Flores, who had the last contact with her relatives on Sunday night when she was in the central state of Querétaro, reported on her online account. social
Authorities from Querétaro and Mexico City joined the actions to locate and contact Flores, a renowned activist who has been searching for two of her missing children for years.
In recent months, Flores has been immersed in controversy after reporting at the end of April an alleged clandestine crematorium of human bodies in Mexico City. The capital’s Prosecutor’s Office quickly concluded that the remains located at the site were those of animals and that the identification cards found there had been discarded or stolen since their owners were alive.
Shortly after, the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, played in his daily press conference a video prepared by a government agency in which activists like Flores were criticized and the press was accused of having a “necrophilic delirium.” for covering the alleged discovery of the crematorium.
Earlier this month, Flores reported another discovery of human remains in Mexico City and was criticized again by officials.
Flores is an accomplished searcher and, like many mothers of missing people, she has shown herself to be committed to her goal. One of her sons, Alejandro Guadalupe, disappeared in 2015. Her second son, Marco Antonio, was kidnapped in 2019. The authorities have not told her anything about the fate of any of them.
The activist has repeatedly questioned the authorities for ignoring the difficult situation of the more than 100,000 missing people in Mexico.
At least seven volunteer searchers have been killed in Mexico since 2021.
