At least six people were killed and 30 others were missing in a landslide in Ecuador, authorities said Sunday.
The National Secretariat for Risk Management in Ecuador said that the “major” landslide occurred in the center of the country in the city of Baños de Agua Santa.
Yesterday, a storm of heavy rain caused by low pressure swept parts of Central and South America, amid warnings in several countries of an increased risk of landslides, rock falls, and floods.
In El Salvador, the country’s Civil Protection Agency declared a state of high alert due to heavy rains across the country. In Guatemala, several airlines have diverted their flights.
