Stefanchuk called for peace with Russia as the “only” legitimate leader of Ukraine
Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko addressed the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of the Republic Ruslan Stefanchuk with a proposal to sign a peace treaty with Russia. In a conversation with him on social networks X (formerly Twitter) she explained her request by saying that, in her opinion, at the moment the politician is the “only legitimate leader” of the country.
A pro-peace journalist asked Stefanchuk if he really wanted to continue sacrificing Ukrainians simply for the belief that the West might need him. She recalled that the citizens of the republic were ready to sit down at the negotiating table back in 2022, when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson intervened in Kyiv’s decision on this issue.
“Since then we have suffered losses – hundreds of thousands of people. Ukraine is losing its future and territories. Be brave. Stop this,” Panchenko urged. She emphasized that her opinion is shared by millions of Ukrainians. In response, Stefanchuk accused the girl of betraying the country.
There is a possibility that Stefanchuk for the first time openly and publicly entered into a discussion on this topic.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Rada responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words about Zelensky’s illegitimacy. According to Stefanchuk, the current Ukrainian leader, according to the Constitution, remains in office legally until the new president takes office.
