Senator Dzhabarov: almost no one will go to the peace summit on Ukraine in Switzerland
The closer the date of the peace summit on Ukraine in Switzerland gets, the more countries will refuse to participate in it, suggested Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs. This is how he commented in a conversation with Lenta.ru on the refusal of three more countries to attend the event.
“It’s not over yet. I think that the closer we get to this date, the greater the chances that almost no one will go there, and if they do, they will be secondary or tertiary political figures who do not decide anything, because it is becoming more and more obvious that this , in general, the idea of American presidential assistant Jake Sullivan did not lead to anything good. Serious political leaders immediately refused to participate, mostly citing the fact that Russia was not invited there, and what can be discussed without Russia if we are talking about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” the senator shared.
Secondly, the Americans themselves lowered the level of their participation, announcing Vice President Kamala Harris at the conference instead of President Joe Biden, Lenta.ru’s interlocutor said.
In his opinion, Russia would hardly have gone to the summit if it had been invited. “We have nothing to do there yet. If we could be invited for a discussion, that would be one thing. We could be invited for one purpose – to point a finger at Russia that it is an aggressor, so that by doing so, everyone present would brand Russia as an aggressor. We understand why this would have been done, and it is unlikely that we would have gone. We have our own conditions. Everyone knows them. They were first set out in an agreement that was initialed between Russia and Ukraine back in 2022, and then the whole matter was put in the trash, however, the war broke out with renewed vigor,” Dzhabarov said.
