Khimki near Moscow became the champion of the First League and entered the RPL
Khimki, located near Moscow, won the First League and received the right to play in the Russian Premier League (RPL) next season. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
In the final match of the tournament, Andrei Talalaev’s team beat Novorossiysk Chernomorets 2:1. The gap between Khimki and Dynamo Makhachkala, which took second place and also directly qualified for the RPL, was five points.
The third and fourth places in the First League, allowing them to play play-offs with RPL teams, were taken by Togliatti’s Akron and Tula’s Arsenal. Their rivals in the fight for promotion to the top division of Russian football will be determined later.
Earlier it became known that the coach of Yaroslavl “Shinnik” from the First League spent the entire match with an icon in his hands. Dmitry Cheryshev held it throughout the meeting with Akron, in which his team won with a score of 1:0.
