The Times newspaper revealed that Manchester United has prepared a list of 4 coaches to succeed the Dutchman Erik ten Hag, the current coach, in the event of his dismissal from his position this summer. Manchester United is playing a very important match against its neighbor Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday, and is betting on… Its European season, because if it wins, it guarantees playing in the European League “Europa League” next season, while defeat makes its season “white,” devoid of any championship.
The newspaper said: “Ten Hag’s future is at stake, and it is very possible that he will leave a year before the end of his contract, although the club’s new owners confirm that they have not yet taken any decision regarding his future, but at the same time they are preparing an alternative.”
The newspaper added that the list of four coaches nominated to choose from among them the appropriate replacement for Ten Hag includes Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, who separated from his former club Chelsea by mutual consent, and who is considered a very serious option, after he was coveted by United in the past.
The newspaper pointed out that Pochettino is a strong competitor to German Thomas Tuchel, who in turn is leaving Bayern Munich this summer, and his name has been rumored for a few weeks as a strong candidate to lead United. However, there are doubts about the ability of this German coach to cooperate with the new owners of United, “the Ineos Group and the Racktliff brothers.” Given that he is known to frequently get into quarrels, quarrels and clashes with senior officials, as he did at Bayern Munich when he got into a quarrel with Uli Hoeneß, the honorary president of Bavarian Club.
There are two other names on the list, and they enjoy a very good reputation in England. The first is Northern Irishman Kieran McKenna, who succeeded in promoting Ipswich Town from the English third division to the Premier League within two years. United knows that this coach previously worked as an assistant to the Portuguese Jose Mourinho, and then to the Norwegian Ole Gunnarsolskjaer, before taking over as coach of Ipswich Town in December 2021. It seems that McKenna is also in high demand at Chelsea and Brighton, after the departure of Pochettino from the former, and the departure of Italian Roberto De Zerbi from the latter.
The fourth coach on this list is Danish Thomas Frank, who has coached Brentford since 2018 and promoted them to the English Premier League in 2021, and succeeded in remaining among the elite clubs. This coach enjoys appreciation and respect in the English Premier League, and his name is also mentioned among the candidates to lead Chelsea.
