Le Pen responds to Tajani: “He doesn’t know our program. Berlusconi also criticized Europe”
“It is surprising, given his political role, that Antonio Tajani ignores the program of the first party in France”. As reported the Ansahe states Marine Le Pen pointing out that “he makes a mistake when he states that the Rassemblement National wants to leave NATO. The RN hopes, as General de Gaulle did, to exit from NATO’s integrated commandtaking into account the specificity of France, which possesses nuclear deterrence and a complete army.”
The controversy arose after Tajani’s words yesterday in the Roman “square”. Affaritaliani.it where the leader of Forza Italia, interviewed by director Perrino, declared that “Mrs. Le Pen’s national rally wants to leave NATO: one cannot think of governing Europe by being against Europe. Le Pen is certainly not a pro-European”. Tajani – Le Pen projects – “declares that ‘we want to destroy Europe’. This statement is false: we want to save Europe by reorienting European policies“.
“I am convinced that in his career Tajani found himself in the position of wanting to change the policies implemented in Italy and it would have been ridiculous to accuse him of wanting to ‘destroy Italy!'”, continues Le Pen. “If I remember correctly, Silvio Berlusconi was also very critical of the choices made by the European Commission and their consequences on the democratic functioning of Europe, on its security or prosperity”, he concludes by underlining that “the very difficult situation of the European peoples requires us to join forces in a spirit of good will rather than fueling artificial and misguided disputes.”
Von der Leyen: “I worked well with Meloni, he is pro-EU”
“I worked very well with Giorgia Meloni in the European Council, as I do with all heads of state and government. This is my task as president of the Commission”. This was stated by the spitzenkandidat of the EPP, Ursula von der Leyen, in the debate between EP candidates. “In the evaluation of the criteria, she is clearly pro-European, and she is clearly anti-Putin, and in favor of the rule of law and therefore she intends to work together,” she explained. “We must build a majority in the European Parliament to take Europe forward, to have a strong Europe. The European Parliament is very different from national parliaments, it is not that a group votes unanimously. In the same group some vote to in favor, others against, some abstain. So you always come with an offer and this offer is for those who want to take Europe forward”, he continued. “I didn’t say that I want to work with the ECR. I talked about individual parliamentarians”, she specified.
