The People Committee of the Petrobras Board of Directors approved this Wednesday (22) the appointment of Magda Chambriard to the presidency of the state-owned company, replacing Jean Paul Prates. The committee understood that the engineer meets the requirements to assume the positions of board member and president.
“The Eligibility Committee (Celeg) considered that Magda Chambriard’s appointment meets the necessary requirements set out in the company’s governance rules and applicable legislation and is ready to be assessed by the Board of Directors, being, therefore, eligible for both positions” , says a note from the company.
The council meeting is scheduled for this Friday (24).
The note also says that “as already informed to the market, once appointed, Magda Chambriard will serve on the Board until the first General Meeting that takes place, and there will be no need to call a Shareholders’ Meeting for this purpose”.
On the 15th, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) appointed Magda Chambriard to the presidency of Petrobras. She is a chemical and civil engineer and began her career at Petrobras in 1980. She was transferred to the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) in 2002. She became director of the ANP in 2008. In 2012, she became the general director of the agency in the Dilma Rousseff government.
