Psychoanalyst, psychologist and activist for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community Eliseu Neto, 45 years old, died on Tuesday (May 21, 2024). The information was released by Cidadania, the party to which Eliseu was affiliated.
In note published on its profile on X (formerly Twitter), the National Executive Committee of the acronym lamented the “early and irreparable loss” from the activist. The location and time of the wake and burial were not disclosed.
The party mentions that he led a case filed with the STF (Supreme Federal Court) that resulted in the criminalization of homophobia in Brazil, equating it with the crime of racism. Eliseu also worked to end the ban on blood donations by homosexuals.
The text further states that “Your dedication and commitment to justice and equality were exemplary.”. The publication reads: “We will miss him deeply, but his legacy will continue to inspire our fight for a more just and inclusive society”.
