The minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), Paulo Pimenta, will assume the role of extraordinary minister who will work in coordination for the reconstruction of Rio Grande do Sul, a state affected by a climate catastrophe that has already killed 149 people and left more than 617.7 thousand homeless and homeless people, according to the latest balance this Tuesday (14). The information was confirmed by Brazil Agency.
The creation of the position had already been announced by the government earlier. The idea is that the presidential representative, with status as minister, act permanently in Rio Grande do Sul for the duration of the public calamity in the state, coordinating an administrative structure for federal actions in the region.

The officialization of Pimenta and details about the new portfolio will be given during the president’s visit to the state, scheduled for this Wednesday (15), when new relief measures for the population of Rio Grande do Sul will be announced.
Lula will go to São Leopoldo do Sul in a delegation that includes the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).
The expectation is that, at that time, temporary financial aid will be launched for people affected by the climate catastrophe. The value was not disclosed. With Pimenta’s departure from Secom, the position will be assumed on an interim basis by journalist Laércio Portela.
