In a survey by a human resources company, six out of ten Finns felt that their work was mentally demanding or stressful.
Fresh according to a survey, compared to other Europeans, Finns are dissatisfied with their jobs. Finns' motivation and passion are among the weakest in Europe: only in Serbia are employees less motivated to their work.
According to a survey commissioned by the HR company SD Worx, 59 percent of Finns feel that they are motivated at work.
The average for European workers is 65 percent. The weakest motivation is in Serbia, where it was at the level of 51 percent.
The most motivated employees are in the Netherlands (76 percent), Romania (74 percent) and Austria (72 percent).
The survey commissioned by SD Worx was carried out in February 2024 in a total of 18 European countries. A total of 5,118 companies and more than 18,000 company employees participated in the survey.
In the survey in addition to motivation, job satisfaction and commitment to the employer were investigated. A total of 68 percent of Finns are generally satisfied with their work and 67 percent are committed to their employer.
The number describing Finns' job satisfaction is slightly lower than the European average: 73.2 percent. Finns' commitment is on the same level as other Europeans.
In Italy, on the other hand, only a good half of the employees are committed to their work, while in Romania as many as 84.4 percent feel that they are committed.
In the survey asked whether it is possible for the employee to focus on what is essential in his work without extra efforts, such as overtime or work outside regular working hours.
Almost half of the Finns completely agreed with their ability to focus on the essentials. In that, Finns were ahead of other Europeans, of whom almost 40 percent felt that they could concentrate on their work within working hours.
Finns also find their work mentally demanding or stressful. This was the answer of six out of ten Finns.
In Serbia and Italy, however, the situation is even more challenging: as many as 72 percent of Serbians and 70 percent of Italians said their work was mentally demanding or stressful.
Half of the Finns who responded to the survey report that they have enough energy after a working day, which is almost the same number as the European average.
67 percent of Finnish employees feel healthy and fit. The figure is slightly above the European average.
