The Legend of Zelda it is a beloved saga and in recent years it has become even more successful thanks to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Growth occurred under the leadership of Eiji Aonuma, producer. To reward these achievements, the Order of Arts and Letters nominated Aonuma Knightfor his contribution to the arts.
Born in 1957, the Order of the Knights of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) is the most prestigious French community of writers, artists and other creatives who have made a significant contribution to the arts, both in cinema and television, in literature and, of course, in video games. Members of the Order include many notable actors, writers, and other creatives, such as the late actor/musician David Bowie, actor Dustin Hoffman, and director Wong Kar-Wai.
Aonuma is not the only video game developer to join the Order French of Arts and Letters and to become a real knight. Before him, Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman, Peter Molyneux, creator of Fable, and Shigeru Miyamoto, legendary Nintendo game designer, were also included in the order. Given the growing and enduring popularity of video games, it is reasonable to assume that more video game creators will join the Order in the future.
Aonuma is certainly not the latest arrival
Aonuma he is famous in recent years as the producer of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which achieved resounding success on Switch, but he is obviously not new to the saga.
The man has in fact worked on the Zelda franchise for more than two decades, serving as director on Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker before becoming lead producer on all subsequent Zelda titles. His appointment as a Knight is therefore the consequence of years and years of “service”.
