Pope Francis accepted on Wednesday (Nov 1, 2023) the resignation of the bishop of Catanduva (SP), Dom Valdir Mamede. According to the local press, the bishop is being investigated for sexual and moral harassment against priests and seminarians. The former bishop was once auxiliary bishop of Brasília, named by then Pope Benedict XVI in 2013. He took office in Catanduva in 2019.
