The debut of the hybrid heir is less and less Lamborghinis Aventador. The Taurus automaker, which today unveiled the one-offs Invencible and Auténtica, respectively a roadster and a coupe that celebrate the end of production of V12 combustion engine super sports cars just before the electrified era, announced that the reveal of the model will happen in the next weeks: a precise date has not actually been provided, but we know for sure that the presentation of the next hybrid supercar of the Italian brand is almost upon us.
The car, which will be significantly more powerful than the current Aventador, will rely on a completely new 12-cylinder engine which will be integrated with an as yet undefined number of electric motors, in a configuration similar to that used by the Sián FKP 37 and the limited edition Countach LPI 800-4: farewell to Lamborghini’s iconic V12 will therefore not be definitive, it simply will no longer be able to fuel any model produced by the brand from Sant’ Bolognese Agatha. Returning to the hybrid heir of Aventador, the adoption of the technology will be particularly interesting supercapacitors, which the Taurus brand has continued to develop after its debut on the Sian: it is an avant-garde energy storage device which in its current form weighs 34 kg and recharges three times faster than a conventional lithium-ion battery of similar size. According to reports from Autocar, it cannot be ruled out that Lamborghini is looking to use the carbon fiber bodywork to store electrical energy.
“Hybrid electrification it will never resize the power of our models, our philosophy provides that there are no reductions on one side and compensations on the other, we will always make top products from this point of view – commented Rouven Mohr, CTO of Lamborghini – The Aventador heir will be a completely new model, there will be no elements carried over from other models, all relevant components, i.e. engine, gearbox, transmission or otherwise, will be new. In the future, we could also think about creating a combination of classic battery cell chemistry and a separate capacitor, but we still have to work on this, now is not the right time yet. I can assure you that the car will not be a disappointment when it comes to driving emotions. We will do this by respecting the new regulations, while improving the driving sensations. I can guarantee that.”
