Through GamesIndustry.biz, we have the opportunity to see a series of reports that indicate various video game information for the year 2022. The data relating to the most talked about games, the most discussed ones and those whose trailers have generated the most views are very interesting.
According to the data, the game most covered by the press it is Elden Ring, with 63,642 items. In second position we find Fortnite which is satisfied with only 37,696 articles, for a decrease of 37.4% year on year. The last position of the podium is from Genshin Impact, which sees a growth of 1% with its 28,613 articles. The rest of the Top 15 consists, in order, of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, The Last of Us Part 2, Minecraft, Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Forbidden West, Overwatch 2, God of War Ragnarok, League of Legends, Apex Legends, FIFA 23 and PUBG. Obviously the number of articles is also conditioned by the release of the game: after publication, the contents increase and the games already available or released at the beginning of the year have the advantage over others arriving later in the year.
As you can see there are no totally exclusive games from Nintendo or Microsoft in the rankings, but that didn’t stop the two companies to be respectively the first and second most covered by online articles. Nintendo boasts 269,370 items (-25.9% year on year), while Microsoft can count on 179,134 items (-28.4%). In third position we find Sony with 154.965 articles (-13.8% year on year). The rest of the Top 10 is made up as follows: Ubisoft, Epic Games, Twitch, Activision Blizzard, Sega, Valve and Bethesda.
