In the coming years the range of Fiat Panda will be radically changed, with the arrival of the first fully electric version which will mark a turning point in the history of the Italian best seller which just turned 40 this year. Waiting to understand what the Panda EV will be like, a first taste comes from China where Geely has its version of city car known by the same name as the iconic model of the Turin brand. The new battery-powered Geely LC has appeared in some photos from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with the Chinese giant’s Panda showing itself as a super compact with graceful shapes.
Only 3,065 mm long, 1,522 mm wide and 1,600 mm high it has a wheelbase of 2,015 mm. It will be sold in the Chinese market under Geely’s Geometry brand. At the front, a pair of simple circular headlights stand out, without any front grille as is the case with full electric cars. On the car body some games have been obtained by subtracting volumes that make the car modern and dynamic, elements also accentuated by some rose gold finishes around the light clusters and along the bodywork. The four-spoke wheels recall those already seen on the Hongguang Mini EV. The windows have a black frame, with the dark element creating a play of movement for the rear windows.
The two-door of the Chinese brand it has a retro rear, with the third brake light integrated in the rear window. The rear light signature, on the other hand, is more squared and a diffuser accent can be seen below that embraces the bumper. We don’t know all the specifications of this model but the Geely Panda should be powered by a 30 kW engine, about 40 HP and equipped with a Gotion Hi-Tech lithium iron phosphate battery. It’s unclear when Geely will start selling the Panda but the launch is likely to take place in 2023.
