Detur cancels all charter trips for the rest of the year. In the press release, Detur denies that it had failed to pay the hosts for its customers’ accommodation.
Swedish travel agency Detur announces that it is suspending its operations and canceling all charter trips for the rest of the year, says the Swedish public broadcasting company SVT.
According to the release, the company will start strengthening the capital base and restructuring the company organization. Because of this, it says it will suspend its operational and production activities and cancel the charter season at the end of the year.
Deturi’s Nordic customers have reportedly had problems with the travel agency in recent days. Customers traveling to Turkey have reportedly been told to pay for the accommodation themselves, even though they have already paid for the hotel as part of the travel package.
In the press release, Detur denies that it had failed to pay the hosts for its customers’ accommodation.
In addition to Turkey, Detur has organized trips to Rhodes and Crete in Greece and Gran Canaria in Spain.

Newspaper Central Finland reported on Wednesday that, according to a customer who purchased their trip through Detur Finland, a number of Finnish tourists are stuck in a hotel in Alanya, Turkey, because the fees for the package tours had not been paid.
According to the customer, Detur has sent a fax in English advising customers to pay the hotel bill and send the receipt to the company’s customer service. The fax says that Detur has been sold to a larger company and all money transfers have now been stopped.
According to the message, the customers will get their money back when the new owner gets access to the financial transactions of the company they bought. According to the Deturi press release published by SVT, such faxes would be fake and the company would not have sent them.
The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV) said on Thursday that it will investigate Detur’s public problems together with the Nordic authorities. KKV has asked Deturi to clarify the situation immediately.
According to KKV, travelers or those who are going on a trip soon should wait for more information. KKV will tell you more about the situation on its website as soon as more detailed information is available.
Detur did not respond to STT’s contact request on Thursday.
