New episode of Ducati World Première web series 2023 and a new preview from Borgo Panigale: this time the new one is unveiled Monster SP, a sportier variant of the famous naked of the Bolognese brand, with a racing approach compared to the traditional version thanks to the addition of a configuration that aims to entertain those who get on the saddle. The Ducati Monster SP will arrive in dealerships in the Ducati network starting from January 2023, also in a weakened version for driving with an A2 license. For young people who want to choose Monster, the Rossa offers a discount of 1,000 euros on the list price.
The heart of the Monster is always the 11 ° Testastretta engine, a liquid-cooled 4-valve twin with 111 horsepower desmodromic distribution. Its Front Frame, inspired by that of the Panigale V4, is an extremely light and compact aluminum frame, fixed directly to the engine heads. It is the modern reinterpretation of the recipe that gave life to the Naked segment, the naked bikes, which is making new generations of Monsteristi fall in love with it. The Monster SP engine, however, evolves, with a series of high-quality components capable of making the bike even lighter, more effective and fun for sporty riding, as well as more aggressive from an aesthetic point of view. The racing soul of this model is underlined by the livery that incorporates the colors of the official team Desmosedici GP 2022, the golden anodizing of the Öhlins NIX30 fork and the presence of the standard Termignoni approved silencer. Particularly valuable details are the red saddle, which integrates into the side view with the tail, the Monster SP logo on the passenger seat cover and the Ducati logo on the tank, larger and inspired by the Panigale V4 graphics.
Riding the Monster SP you can enjoy greater effectiveness in sports driving. This version has in fact better braking performance, reduced load transfers, increased ability to close trajectories and greater precision in all driving phases. The fully adjustable Öhlins suspensionwith the fork 0.6 kg lighter compared to that adopted on Monster and Monster +, they increase the feeling, as well as increase the ground clearance and consequently the lean angle. The suspension system also counts on a sportier calibration, which improves the dynamic qualities of the Monster SP when driving on mixed roads and opens up the possibility of having fun even among the curbs of a circuit. Also in this direction, the strengthening of the braking system with Brembo Stylema calipers and aluminum flanges for the 320 mm front brake discs (0.5 kg lighter than the Monster equipment) makes the Monster SP more performing in braking but, at the same time, more agile thanks to the reduction of inertia at the front end.
The general lightening of the bike also passes by the adoption of a lithium-ion battery, which carries the overall saving of about 2 kg in running order compared to the standard model, already a reference in the category for lightness, despite the addition of components such as the steering damper and the fairing.
The sporting potential of the Monster SP is further enhanced by the steering damper, which improves stability under acceleration and cornering, as well as by the presence as original equipment of Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, the Milanese manufacturer’s flagship proposal for sporty driving. on the road. Furthermore, the electronics see a general recalibration of all the Riding Modes, and therefore of all the electronic controls, to make the most of the changes made to the chassis, together with the arrival of the new Wet Riding Mode, designed to offer greater safety on wet bottoms. The electronic sector of the Monster is at the top of the segment. The standard equipment includes ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control, all adjustable to different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the new Monster SP is also underlined by the Launch Control which ensures lightning-fast starts. This top-of-the-range motorcycle equipment allows the Monster SP to safely express its performance. The Sport, Road and Wet Riding Modes allow you to shape the Monster’s character according to the tastes and needs of the rider. Everything is easily managed through the handlebar controls and the 4.3 “color TFT dashboard, featuring racing graphics that echo that of the Panigale V4, with a large rev counter and a complete set of information on the left, including that of the gear engaged.
