A few days ago, Peter Ptassek stepped down as German ambassador in Colombia to make way for Marian Schuegraf, who assumed the position as ambassador of said nation before our country.
Schuegraf presented her credentials in a ceremonial act before Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva on August 19 and became the first woman to assume the position.

The new official was presented this Thursday through social networks with a hot video in which she toured some streets of Bogotá and spoke about her projects in front of the German Embassy in Colombia.
Who is Marian Schuegraf?
The new German ambassador to Colombia took office in August 2022. She is a jurist with an outstanding international career.
According to the profile published by the Embassy in Bogotá, Schuegraf was director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
She has also held positions as an envoy at the embassy in Tehran and has been on missions at the embassy in New Delhi, India, or Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia.

This Thursday, the ambassador published a video on Twitter in which she spoke about her expectations in the position and visited places such as the Botanical Garden in Bogotá or some streets of the city. All this using the public transport of the capital.
Schuegraf commented that this is not the first time he has visited Colombia, as he was previously in Nariño and in regions affected by violence, but he stated that during his time at the embassy he hopes to discover new spaces in the country.
“I want to know every corner of this country, but also the biodiversity of its human potential. (…) Colombia for me is adventure and a great biodiversity to discover”, he emphasized.

The new ambassador stressed that she believes that Colombia is going through a period of change and that, as she passes through the country, she wants to work on issues such as the climate, the environment or sustainability.
“I have high expectations about my work in this beautiful country: environment, peace, economy, very curious to discover it and willing to dialogue with you,” she wrote.

He also commented that he will take advantage of his period to implement projects that strengthen relations between Germany and Colombia, especially scientific projects that involve young people, universities, workers and other social sectors.
According to the Colombian Foreign Ministry, the country has an important bilateral agenda with Germany, which will continue to be promoted with Marian Schuegraf. The agenda includes issues of trade cooperation, investment, renewable energy, among others.
