A 24-year-old man was arrested as a suspect in the Asikkala taxi death.
Päijät-Hämeen On Tuesday, the district court imprisoned a 24-year-old man on probable cause as a suspect in the Asikkala taxi murder. The murder is suspected to have happened early Saturday morning.
After the detention hearing, the police said in a press release that a Vääksä man who previously worked as a taxi driver is suspected of murdering a 20-year-old female taxi driver. According to HS, the man has a valid taxi driver’s license.
Preliminary investigation the woman who was on duty had taken the man for a ride in the center of Lahti. The journey continued from the center of Lahti to Asikkala, according to the police’s current information, but the car’s taxi meter was not on.
The police are continuing the investigation by, among other things, questioning people who have been in contact with the victim and the man suspected of the crime. In addition, the police continue to search different locations and analyze forensic samples.
The police say that at this stage they cannot tell more about the incident without jeopardizing the investigation.
