Isabel Franco assures that to appoint the replacement for José López Mellado “we will listen to the entities of the sector”
The Vice President and Minister of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Family and Social Policy, Isabel Franco, announced this Monday the dismissal of José López Mellado as General Director of the Elderly.
Mellado was one of the most valued interlocutors by the representatives of the main associations in the nursing home sector in the Region of Murcia, although the months of conflict between the centers and the Ministry due to the extra costs generated by the pandemic and the delay that accumulates the updating of the price per place that the residences charge in the concerts with the Community, among other fronts, have ended up taking their toll.
Franco thanked “the work carried out by López Mellado, first at the head of the General Directorate of Social Services and Relations with the Third Sector and later in that of the Elderly”. The vice president highlighted the dedication that has characterized López Mellado’s work since his appointment, especially during the pandemic, first in favor of the homeless and in his last stage leading the management of the area for the elderly.
In addition, Franco announced in a note that, in order to designate the person who will replace him in the position, “we will listen to the entities in the sector” so that “from unity and consensus, we can continue to advance to provide the elderly in the Region with the best care and attention.
