The government’s media office said, in a statement, that it will start its work from the capital as soon as the delivery and receipt process is completed, in accordance with legal procedures.
A source close to the government confirmed to “Sky News Arabia”, rejecting the “rhetoric of violence and hate”, which is promoted by some pages on social networking sites.
The source stated that the new government adopts a discourse of tolerance and dialogue, and rejects the use of force, but it and its supporters are “ready to make sacrifices for the sake of the homeland and preserve its capabilities.”
Bashagha has the power to deal with “peace and strength”
The new Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha, has sufficient tools that enable him to deal with the anti-militia coalition “peacefully or by force”, as political researcher Muhammad Qashout explains.
In his interview with “Sky News Arabia”, Qashut believes that the position of these groups is not based on a specific principle, but rather for the sake of special interests, calling on Pashagha not to succumb to them.
The political researcher explained that the most prominent names in the Dabaiba camp, the militia leader “Ghaniwa al-Kikli”, sought until the last moments to nominate a certain figure within the new government formation for the position of Minister of the Interior, and with the failure of his efforts, he appeared among those denouncing the Bashagha government, and those threatening it, and therefore his position is not necessarily based on a real endorsement of Dabaiba.
Open conflict in Tripoli
The Libyan politician, Faraj Yassin, does not rule out the outbreak of a widespread conflict inside Tripoli, after it witnessed over the past weeks a continuous mobilization of armed groups and militias.
In his speech to “Sky News Arabia”, he stressed that international powers expect the possibility of a war in the capital, ending the relative calm that the country has experienced since the signing of the ceasefire agreement in October 2020.
“The beneficiary is the Brotherhood,” says Yassin, who stressed that they have not abandoned their old dream of subjecting the country to their control, and they are continuing this scheme, backed by other international powers, and they will not abandon it.
There are no confrontations between the people of Misurata
According to the journalist writer, Al-Hussein Al-Misori, it is unlikely that confrontations will erupt between supporters of Bashagha and Dabaiba, who hail from the same city, which is Misurata.
Al-Misori explains that many influential people inside Misrata will prevent the outbreak of fighting that may come against the people of the city, which has the greatest influence in the Libyan west, but he excludes the armed groups affiliated with Zawiya, which showed greater enthusiasm in supporting Dabaiba, against the background of the old conflict between them. And Bashagha, in addition to the extensive influence of the Muslim Brotherhood there.
Militia split
Armed groups and militias in western Libya were divided between a row supporting the head of the interim unity government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, and another supporter of the new Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha.
Several groups operating in the western region and the Nafusa Mountains blessed the parliament’s position and its selection of Bashagha for the new government, saying that it was “fully prepared” to carry out “the tasks entrusted to it” to support it.
The Bashagha camp includes more than 36 armed groups, including the “Tripoli Revolutionaries, the 166th Group of Muhammad al-Hussan, the 210th Motorized Infantry, the Fawwar Fighting Force, the Counter-Terrorism Force invited by presidential candidate Ahmed Maiteeq, as well as the Special Deterrence Force.”
Other groups such as the Janzour Martyrs’ Brigade, the 212nd Brigade, the 42nd Battalion, the Zuwara Protection Brigade, and the 301st Armored Brigade, and groups affiliated with the so-called “Tripoli Military District”, as well as the “Misrata Military Council” also come.
While Dabaiba is dependent on more than 22 armed groups, she said that she supports his government’s survival in power, and it was the first to act during the last period, when the joint force in the city of Misurata detained the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Culture in the government of Bashagha Hafez Kaddour and Salha Al-Toumi.
In addition to the “joint force”, at the top of the list is the militia known as the Stabilization Support Organization led by Abdul Ghani al-Kikli, nicknamed “Ghaniwa”, in addition to the militias of “Mohammed Bahrun (Al-Far), Othman Al-Lahab, and Security Support.”
The list includes: “the Militias of the Airport Road Axis, the Third Infantry and Rishvana Brigade, the Al-Ajeilat Brigade, the Sabratha Brigade, the Khalil Al-Misrati Brigade, the Hassan Zaait Militia, the Military Council of the Southern Zawia, the Al-Fateh Fighting Brigade, the Harsha Brigade, the Coast Militia, the Zawiya Operations Room.”
