“The last line of communication between the occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and the Ukrainian power grid was cut off due to missile attacks,” Energatom said in a statement.
“The station has now moved (…) to a system of total outages for the sixth time since its occupation,” she said, noting that “the engines of Units 5 and 6 have been stopped.”
The company stated that 18 emergency diesel generators have been operated to ensure a minimum level of nutrition for the station, adding, “There is enough fuel for ten days, and the countdown has begun.”
And she warned that “if it is not possible to restore the external electrical supply to the station, an accident may occur that will have radioactive consequences in the entire world.”

For its part, the Russian unit, which manages the station, confirmed the activation of emergency diesel generators, but said that this action was due to an “electrical short” (short circuit) on another electric line, without specifying the reasons.
“All security systems are operating normally,” the Russian administration said on Telegram.
The Russian army has controlled this large nuclear facility in southern Ukraine since March 4, 2022, nine days after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The Energy Agency is warning
For his part, the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency warned of the danger of frequent power outages at the Zaporizhia plant.
On Thursday, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, issued a new warning after a Russian strike on the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia (south), which is now working on emergency generators.
