Windows 11 has been around for quite a while now. This is the latest version of the Windows OS par excellence, a versatile and modern operating system. Recently the possibility to download and install Android apps on PCs with Windows 11 has also arrived in Italy and here we have explained how to do it. But what if you want to bypass the Amazon store and install an Android app that is not present on that platform? Today we explain how to do it!
Windows 11, here’s how to install any Android app, without using the Amazon store
The Amazon store is undoubtedly a start with regard to the Android subsystem present in Windows 11, but it certainly cannot compete with the PlayStore. The apps absent on this platform are very many and this could frustrate you a lot. Don’t worry though, today we are here to explain how to get around the problem!
Prerequisites
Before starting it is very important to have a PC with Windows 11 and which obviously supports the use of the Android subsystem. We refer you to this guide where we explained how to install everything you need.
How to proceed
Actually the procedure to follow is very simple, first we will have to make sure of have enabled developer mode present in the Android subsystem:
- Open start and then start the Windows subsystem for Android
- Click on “Developer settings management”,
- look for the USB debugging option and turn it on
Once this is done you are already halfway there, all you have to do is another handful of steps:
- Download WSA-pacman here (this is the program needed to install apk)
- Install it and that’s it!
Once the installation is complete, you can easily take advantage of any APK file, just open it with WSA and the program will take care of the installation for you. There may be rare cases of incompatibility. Also remember, to correctly emulate these applications there is a need for a fair amount of resources, so make sure your PC is performing enough before you embark on the enterprise!
Where do i find the apk files?
Another problem that may seem insurmountable to you is finding the apk files needed to install the apps. In reality, everything is quite simple and I want to leave you below a list of the most reliable sites for this task:
Generally speaking, these are safe sites, but I remind you to always check the sources before downloading any apk as it could also contain viruses of any kind. For example, taking a look at user reviews is always a great way to get an idea of what you have in front of you.
Of course, I encourage you to use the comments in case you have any questions regarding this guide. Finally, I remember that for now the only “official” way that Microsoft has designed to use Android apps on Windows 11 it’s the Amazon App Store itself, so these unofficial alternatives are the only way to install external files.
