Vector Sport has called Mike Rockenfeller to take part in the 1000 Miglia di Sebring, the first event of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The new British team that will debut in LMP2 with its Oreca 07-Gibson will have to deal with the absence of Sébastian Bourdais, who will be present in Florida in the same weekend, but as a competitor of the IMSA SportsCar Championship and therefore unable to cover a double role having given priority to the US series.
“Rocky” is also the protagonist of both championships, but Action Express Racing / Ally Racing gave him the green light to share the prototype wheel with Nico Muller and Ryan Cullen, while the next day he will be on the Cadillac DPi for the 12h of Sebring.
“The LMP2 this year is certainly the most competitive in the WEC and I am very happy to join Vector Sport for their first race,” said the 38-year-old German ex-Audi Sport.
“It will be really nice to be a part of it. It’s always nice to take on big challenges and this is one of them. Sebring will be a busy week for me, but I can’t wait to start working and try to bring home some trophies.”
“A big thank you goes to Action Express Racing and Ally for giving me the opportunity to do this double date. The Sebring round is very important for them, but I’m happy to ride it with both of them; I’m sure we will do it!”

Team principal Gary Holland added: “We knew from the start that Seb couldn’t be with us at Sebring, but we couldn’t have a better replacement than Mike and I know he will integrate very well into the team.”
“His experience in Sebring will be very important for Nico and Ryan, we can’t wait to start the weekend with the Prologue before the 1000 Miglia”.
