Aden (Al-Ittihad)
Yesterday, the US Army announced the destruction of 4 Houthi drones and another crashed in the Red Sea. The US Central Command, Centcom, said in a statement that the Houthis “launched a drone from the areas they control in Yemen towards the Red Sea.” The statement added: “The drone crashed into the sea without any injuries or damage reported by American ships, coalition ships, or commercial ships.” The statement continued, saying, “Separately, US Central Command forces succeeded in destroying a drone over the Gulf of Aden, in addition to 3 drones over the Red Sea.”
He stated that the Houthis “launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles towards the Gulf of Aden on Friday evening.” However, no casualties or damage were reported by American ships, coalition ships, or commercial ships.”
The US Central Command statement said: “These drones and anti-ship ballistic missiles represent an imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial ships in the region.”
To try to deter the Houthis, American and British forces have launched strikes on their sites on the Yemeni mainland since January 12. The US Army alone carries out strikes from time to time against missile and drone sites that it says are Houthi launch bases.
