NYT: Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are addicted to energy drinks
Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are hooked on energy drinks. About it reports The New York Times.
“In the morning when I wake up, I drink an energy drink. When I go on patrol, I drink an energy drink. Before an attack, I drink an energy drink,” said a Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Psycho. According to him, they are necessary in front-line conditions, when you have to go for a long time without sleep and food. According to the NYT, energy drink cans can be found in trenches and tanks.
At the same time, sales of such drinks help the country’s economy quite well; demand for energy drinks has increased by 50 percent since the start of hostilities, the publication notes.
Previously, a teacher at the Faculty of Medicine of the State University of Education, surgeon Alexander Umnov said that popular energy drinks can be life-threatening. In a number of countries, there have already been deaths due to arrhythmia, heart attack, and stroke provoked by energy drinks. And with daily use of energy drinks, addiction can occur, fraught with pathological dependence.
