Ukrainian Chief of Staff Oleksandr Sersky revealed that the situation on the Eastern Front has deteriorated significantly in recent days, indicating an “escalation” in the attack by the Russian army, which announced its control of a small town near Avdiivka.
A statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the soldiers took control of the village of “Pervomaisky” southwest of Avdiivka, which they had controlled since February. Recently, Russia has been making progress in the region.
Russian forces are continuing their advance towards Chasiv Yar, an important city in the east, which Kiev says is under “continuous fire.”
The Ukrainian Chief of Staff wrote, via the Telegram application, “The situation on the Eastern Front has deteriorated significantly in recent days. This is due in particular to a major escalation in the attack.”
Oleksandr Sirsky added that the Russian army is attacking Ukrainian positions in the Liman and Bakhmut sectors “with assault groups supported by armored vehicles,” as well as in the Pokrovsk sector.
“This was made possible by the hot, dry weather that made most of the open areas available for tanks,” Sirsky explained.
He added that the Russian army is deploying “new armored units,” which allows it to achieve “tactical successes.”
