It was reported that Israel received a list of the names of 13 Israeli detainees who are expected to be released by Hamas on Saturday, according to the Israeli Times of Israel newspaper.
This number of Israeli detainees who will be released is similar to those released by Hamas yesterday, Friday, except for the Thai detainees who were released and were not part of the agreed upon deal.
A statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose government has promised to work to release all those detained by Hamas, said Israeli security officials are reviewing the list.
The truce agreement between Israel and Hamas, which was brokered by Qatar and Egypt, stipulates the release of 3 Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, for every Israeli detainee.
200 trucks of relief and medical supplies will be delivered daily, in addition to 4 trucks of fuel and gas cylinders to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, Friday, Israel released the first batch of Palestinian prisoners, which included 39 children and women, while the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip released 13 Israeli prisoners, all of them children and women, as part of the truce agreement.
Yesterday, while the families of Palestinian prisoners were waiting for the release of their sons around the Ofer detention center, 31 Palestinians were injured.
The Palestinian News Agency said, “The number of those injured in the Israeli forces’ suppression of those around Ofer prison, west of Ramallah, this Friday evening, rose to 31 citizens.”
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that its crews dealt with 31 injuries in front of Ofer prison, including 3 injuries from live bullets, 4 injuries from rubber-coated metal bullets, 22 injuries from suffocation from toxic tear gas, and two injuries as a result of falls.
Yesterday, Friday, US President Joe Biden considered that Hamas’s release of the first group of detainees was “only the beginning,” stressing that there were “real opportunities” to extend the four-day truce in Gaza.
Biden praised the first stages of the truce and the prisoner exchange, and said, “I engaged with my team this morning as we began the first days of implementing this deal,” considering that “this is only the beginning, but so far things have gone well.”
He added, “I think there are real opportunities” to extend the scheduled truce for four days.
